MP United stays on top of Division A

Sunjoon Tenorio delivered a hat trick in MP United’s shutout win against Okadaya in the Division A game in the 2018 Spring M-League last Sunday at the Hopwood Middle School Field.

Tenorio started his string of goals in the 27th minute, while his last two came in the 70th and 76th minute to keep MP United at the No. 1 spot in the team standings as the squad improved to a 3-0-0 win-draw-loss record.

Okadaya has yet to win this season, as it had a draw and two losses to remain at the bottom half of the seven-team field. Completing the standings are Paire (2-0-1), idle TanHoldings (1-1-0), Teen Ayuyus (0-2-1), and Winners & Pacific Eco (0-1-1).

Paire moved up to the second spot after slipping past Winners and Pacific Eco, 5-4.

Chris Nelson scored the winning goal for Paire in the 85th minute. Jonathan Takano also helped Paire’s cause with his shots in the 29th and 59th minute, while Patrick McCallion chipped in one in the 75th. Paire got an own goal in the eighth minute. Winners and Pacific Eco drew a pair of goals from Joe Miller, while Ensik Choi and Jun Sik Kim contributed one apiece.

In other results, Kanoa FC forced a draw against the Teen Ayuyus.

The Teen Ayuyus committed an error in the 86th minute, allowing Kanoa to have an own goal and tie the game. Earlier in the 50th minute, Joshua Waldo found his target to hand the Teen Ayuyus a shaky 1-0 lead.

DIVISION B WNT 5, Sun Palace 4 The CNMI U16 Women’s National Team broke into the win column after nosing out Sun Palace.

The WNT had an auspicious start, leading at 5-0 by halftime and withstood Sun Palace’s comeback bid to keep the win. Janelle Chognaki scored in the fourth and 14th minute, while Mikky Vargas hit the board in the 29th and 34th, and Sharmaine Francisco gave the WNT its third goal in the 19th minute for the squad’s sizeable lead at halftime. Brian Lubao also had a pair for Sun Palace, which got one apiece from Daniel Marl Pablo and Ariel Jinang.

Shirley’s 4, PIC 0 Shirley’s Football Club notched its first victory, too, after shutting down Pacific Islands Club.

Louis Hoin Ryu starred in Shirley’s win after firing a hat trick, which he made in succession. He scored in the seventh, eighth, and 27th minute, while Jun Liu recorded the other goal for Shirley’s.

KFAS 5, Matansa 0

In the last game in the division, Korean Football Association blanked Matansa for its third win in as many games and the lead in the six-squad group.

Banseok Kim and Hwapyoung Kim registered two goals apiece for KFAS, while Edwin Kim made one for the unbeaten team.
