BANGLADESH and The One football clubs will vie for the championship of the Marianas Soccer League 2 after clinching their semifinal matches Sunday at the NMI Soccer Training Center.

Number four seed Bangladesh FC were the first to secure their spot in the finals after silencing the top seed, Saipan United, 3-0.

The first half was filled with high-intensity action as both teams displayed their offensive and defensive skills.

In the midst of the back-and-forth battle, Bangladesh FC’s Abdul Shahanewaz found the back of the net at the 11th minute mark to give his team the lead, 1-0.

The goal seemed to have empowered Bangladesh FC as they continued to apply the pressure throughout the second half and control most of the possession.

With great ball movement paired with precision passes, they eventually found their second goal at the 45th minute mark thanks to Rakib Hassan.

Five minutes later, a third goal was added by Md. Soheal Akanda who gave his team a comfortable 3-0 lead.

Saipan United failed to find a crack in Bangladesh FC's wall of defense and went down in defeat.

The One vs Bangladesh Youth

In the other semifinal match, The One Football Club faced a much tougher opponent, the Bangladesh Youth.

Both teams gave it their all, but after 10 minutes of play, The One managed to penetrate through the Bangladesh Youth's defense with Ming Xu delivering a goal.

However, it did not take long for the Bangladesh Youth to retaliate as Rassel delivered six minutes later to even the score 1-1.

The back-and-forth continued throughout the second half, but the Bangladesh Youth eventually snatched control after Mohammad Hossain drained a shot at the 60th minute mark.

Eight minutes later, The One’s Ri Xian tied the game, 2-2.

With neither team able to make the game-winning goal, the match went into overtime with The One besting the Bangladesh Youth in the penalty shootout to earn a ticket to the finals.
