Kanoa atop women’s soccer, MPU FC wins in MSL 2

Kanoa Football Club is on top of the Flores-Péé Luwal Division of the 2023 Spring Dove Women’s League heading into Week 6 with a four win and one loss record, while MP United FC won against Shirley’s FC 2 in the 2023 Spring Marianas Soccer League 2.

Kanoa’s most recent win was against Matansa FC, 1-0, last Sunday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville; MPU FC won, 6-3 against Shirley’s FC 2 last Friday.

Jane Malabanan sprinted to the net just a couple of minutes in for the only goal of the game. Matansa was silent through the whole afternoon as none of their attempts at the goal stuck.

MPU FC’s Gaige Porras made a beeline as soon as he had the ball and bagged the first goal just two minutes in. Two more goals were made by MPU before Shirley’s Angie Ito replied for a 3-1 game.

It was all quiet on the western front until Shirley’s Josephine Cardelle closed the lead by one, 3-2. However, MPU returned the favor for another goal in the 60th minute, then in the 70th minute, then the last goal in the 77th minute.

Shirley’s only replied once more, but it was all for nought as time ran out.

DOVE WOMEN’S LEAGUE

MP United FC slipped past Paire FC, 2-1.

Moriah Sablan whizzed past the goalie five minutes in and it went radio silent after that. Then, teammate Michelle Ann Masga fired at the net for the second goal in the 44th minute.

When it seemed like Paire wouldn’t put up much of a fight, Phoenix Gross managed to snag a goal in the 58th minute. However, it was too little too late as the shot clock ticked its final tock.

The Southern United FC-Tan Holdings game ended with the former victorious, 1-0.

Keisha Deleon Guerrero scraped the net at the 8th minute and that was all she wrote for the rest of the game.
