Matansa, Kanoa triumph in U12 boys soccer
MATANSA and Kanoa football clubs earned separate wins Saturday in the U12 boys division of the TakeCare Youth Soccer League at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.
Matansa, which silenced Southern United Football Club, 3-0, set the pace throughout the match.
After 10 minutes of exchanges, Matansa eventually controlled the possession with a mix of offensive and defensive highlights. Then, at the 14th minute mark, Matansa’s Thaedeus Tolentino completed a transition play to give his team the upper hand, 1-0.
Although Southern United stood their ground for the remainder of the first half, their defensive walls were eventually worn down in the second half.
This time it was Matansa’s Ryane Umali who took the spotlight as he connected back-to-back goals at the 36th and 38th minute marks to extend his team’s lead, 3-0.
Southern United still had time to catch up, but they failed to kill Matansa’s momentum and remained scoreless.
Kanoa vs Shirley’s
Kanoa Football Club joined the winner’s circle after shellacking Shirley’s Football Club, 5-0.
Kanoa’s dominance started after the 10-minute mark as their aggressive approach overwhelmed Shirley’s, allowing Izaiah Tenorio to connect two consecutive goals at the 13th and 16th minute marks for a 2-0 lead.
Kanoa returned from halftime even stronger, scoring three more goals to secure the easy win, 5-0.
