MPU Pink and Blue bag wins in boys youth soccer
MP United Football Club’s Pink and Blue teams earned separate wins in the opening matches of the Fall 2022 TakeCare Youth Soccer League Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.
MPU Pink defeated Tan Holdings Football Club, 5-2.
MPU Pink’s Leonard Delemarle scored a goal in the 25th minute of the first half, but the real action started in the second half with Tan Holdings’ Evan Seguritan finding the back of the net to even the score, 1-1.
Nine minutes later, MPU Pink regained the lead with Taiga Namai-Scoggins sinking his first goal of the day, but Tan Holdings’ Emerson Brillo quickly returned fire to tie the game, 2-2.
MPU Pink then focused on defense and prevented any more shots from getting through. With each successful stop, they turned defense into offense with Namai-Scoggins scoring three consecutive goals for the hat-trick and the win, 5-2.
MPU Blue vs Shirley’s
MPU Blue, for their part, took down Shirley’s Football Club, 5-2.
Shirley’s was the first to draw blood at the 10th minute mark but failed to maintain efficiency.
MPU Blue gradually wore down Shirley’s defense and squeezed in three goals, two from Landon Jordan and the other from Seo Yeom for a 3-1 lead.
Although the tempo slowed down in the second half, MPU Blue continued to deliver, scoring two more goals courtesy of Yeom at the 32nd and 36th minute marks.
Shirley’s managed to squeeze in one more goal at the 49th minute mark before settling for defeat, 2-5.
Kanoa Football Club scored an easy victory after Paire Football Club forfeited their match. But both teams still played the game although no scores were recorded.
