Old B Bank, Tan Holdings notch wins
Old B Bank and Tan Holdings Football Club notched wins in the 2023 Spring Marianas Soccer League 2 and 1 last Friday and Sunday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.
Old B Bank won off late goals in the second half against Matansa, 3-1, while Tan Holdings blanked Eleven Tiger, 3-0.
Matansa’s Jordan Ruiz drew first blood in the 31st minute after a long and silent game with both teams unable to connect with the goal. The ball flew back and forth on the pitch and with the final minutes of the first half winding down, Old B Bank’s John Canape tied the game up in the 39th minute.
A lot of slogging for both teams were done in the second half as goals were hard to come by, but Russelle Zapanta put Old B Bank up by one in the 56th minute. Matansa could not make contact any further as Panapa Peteru made it a 3-1 game in the 74th minute.
The Tan Holdings team of MSL 1, on the other hand, tamed Eleven Tiger to zero goals, 3-0.
It was quiet for both teams in the first half as no goals were made for a scoreless draw heading into the second half. But then, Martin Jambor found an opening and put Tan Holdings on the board, 1-0 in the 50th minute.
Teammate Isiah Bergancia followed suit in the 63rd minute, with the final goal made by Ronnel Ocanada in the 71st minute.
MSL 2 Chang Bai Hu 7, Women’s Development Team 2 Chang Bai Hu was aggressive at the net and came out with great results as they won, 7-2, against the Women’s Development Team.
Xu Ming Gueng scored the first goal in the 23rd minute, but WDT’s Khristelle Itaas immediately equalized in the 28th minute.
Silence befell the pitch as both teams scrambled to get out of the draw, but it wasn’t until later in the second half’s 45th minute did Chang Bai Hu take the lead with Joe Wang’s goal.
Wang ended completing a hat-trick and the other goals were contributed by Ming Zhe Li, Xiao Jeng Lin, and one more goal by Gueng.
The second and last goal by WDT was made by Summer Manahane in the 73rd minute.
Shirley’s FC 1 3, MP United FC 0 Shirley’s FC defeated MP United FC, 3-0.
Ohiraj Chhetri scored the first goal in the 37th minute, followed by a goal in the second half’s 44th minute by Jeremiah Benavente, and the last goal was made by Paulo Quidato in the 69th
MSL 1 MPU FC 4, Paire 3 In MSL 1, MPU FC slipped past Paire, 4-3.
It was an evenly matched game as both teams took turns scoring goals.
First blood was drawn by Paire’s Philip Megino in the 26th minute. Six minutes later, MPU’s Dylan Mister replied for a 1-1 draw.
Paire’s Eric Barajas took the lead again in the 42nd minute, but MPU equalized the game again in the 44th minute.
MPU took the lead swiftly a minute with Mister’s second goal and it stayed that way until the 69th minute when Paire’s Rex De Jose tied it up, 3-3.
MPU eventually came out with the W as Dev Bachani made the winning goal in the 81st minute.
In the first game of Sunday, Hana FC forfeited against Kanoa FC.
