Paire, MP United Pink to vie for U13 boys soccer title
PAIRE and MP United Pink will go mano a mano for the U13 boys division championship of the TakeCare Youth Soccer League after bagging separate wins Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Center.
Paire Football Club secured their title spot after slipping past the no.1 seed, MP United Blue, 2-1.
It was a game of defense as both teams filled the field with back-and-forth action. After 10 minutes of play, Paire’s relentless efforts finally paid off as they opened up a shot opportunity for Jayten Villagomez who then found the back of the net and handed the lead to his team, 1-0.
Paire continued to push forward, eventually wearing down MPU Blue with Villagomez sinking his second goal of the day to widen his team’s lead, 2-0.
MPU Blue tried to get back in the game thanks to Landon Jordan who delivered a goal, but there wasn’t enough time to equalize, and they had to bow down to Paire, 2-1.
MPU Pink vs Matansa
MP United Pink advanced to the finals after taking down Matansa Football Club, 3-0.
MPU Pink established dominance early thanks to the footwork of Taiga Namai-Scoggins who scored two goals at the 14th and 16th minute marks for a 2-0 advantage.
Matansa picked up the pace defensively, but they failed to score. MPU Pink, for their part, managed to deliver one more goal in the second half thanks to Finn Altizer for a 3-0 victory.
The championship match between Paire and MPU Pink will be held this Saturday at 6:20 p.m.
