Updated: Nov 26, 2021
PAIRE and Tan Holdings football clubs are off to a good start as they emerged victorious in the opening games of the U12 Youth League Fall 2021 Tournament on Saturday at the NMI Soccer Training Center’s mini-pitch.
Paire earned their first win of the season by outscoring Matansa Football Club 6-3.
Relentless pressure was the key to success as Paire never stopped looking for the kill. After six minutes of action, Paire’s Jazzroy Villagomez found the back of the net to give his team the edge.
Paire then forced Matansa to commit an error by scoring in their own goal which gave Paire a 2-0 lead.
However, before the end of the first half, Matansa turned defense into offense with Anton Megino delivering the shot to reduce Paire’s lead 1-2.
But Matansa’s comeback was short-lived as Paire returned to the second half with guns blazing.
At the 28th minute mark, Villagomez connected his second goal while team-mate Rodney Tomei drilled his first goal of the day four minutes later followed by Villagomez's third goal to complete the hat-trick as Paire pulled ahead, 5-1.
Matansa did fight back with Megino earning a hat-trick as well with two consecutive goals, but Paire’s Tomei managed to seal the deal with a dagger-like goal at the 50th minute mark to hand his team a 6-3 victory.
TanHoldings vs MP United
TanHoldings, for their part, edged MP United 2, 2-1.
Despite MPU 2's early start with Quido Jambor connecting the opening goal just five minutes into the game, they were completely out of the picture for the remainder of the game.
THFC, on the other hand, worked their way to even the score at the 18th minute mark thanks to Chelsea Santos.
In the second half, MPU 2 failed to kill THFC's momentum as Santos found the back of the net once again to notch victory for his team, 2-1.
