SIS, KoES in soccer finale
SAIPAN International School and Koblerville Elementary School 1 will vie for the championship of the NMIFA-PSS Interscholastic Soccer League Elementary Division after defeating their adversaries in Friday's semifinal matches at the NMI Soccer Training Center.
Saipan International School took on Garapan Elementary School 1 and pulled through with an impressive 4-0 victory.
It was a fairly even start between both teams but with enough persistency, SIS managed to find the back of the net at the fourth minute mark thanks to Juwon Lee.
At the 37th minute mark, SIS’ Jude Rayphand scored a goal which was followed by two more goals courtesy of Quido Jambor and Yutaro Kitagawa.
GES 1 had several shot opportunities but the Mallards could not convert, allowing the Geckos to advance to the final.
KoES 1 vs GES 2
In the other semifinal match, Koblerville Elementary School 1 outplayed Garapan Elementary School 2, 2-0.
KoES played aggressively but GES 2 defended well at first. Eventually, however, the Umangs broke down the Mallards’ wall with Eleazir Mettao scoring a goal at the 12th minute mark.
KoES scored one more goal in the second half thanks to Napu Pangelinan who sealed the deal at the 34th minute mark.
Saipan International School and KoES 1 will go mano a mano for the championship trophy this Wednesday.
