TakeCare edges Kanoa in premier women’s soccer
TAKECARE continues their pursuit of the no. 1 spot in the Tinekcha-Awaal or premier division of the Dove Women’s League after outlasting the Kanoa Football Club, 2-1 on Wednesday, April 27, at the NMI Soccer Training Center.
TakeCare’s aggressive start was the key to their victory. After 13 minutes of exchanges, they managed to wear down the defense and provide Josephine Cardelle with an opening to gain control, 1-0.
KNFC then tightened their defensive line to prevent incoming attacks. However, before going into half time, TakeCare caught the defense off-guard allowing Bernadette Horey to unleash a quick shot and extend her team’s lead, 2-0.
In the second half, KNFC held their ground and eventually turned defense into offense with Kaithlyn Chavez scoring the goal to reduce TakeCare’s lead, 1-2, at the 49th minute mark.
KNFC tried to cook up a rally, but TakeCare used the clock to their advantage and kept Kanoa at bay long enough to secure the win, 2-1.
Shirley’s vs Southern United
Shirley’s Football Club collected their second win of the season by beating Southern United Football Club, 2-1.
It was an action-filled opening half with Southern United drawing first blood courtesy of Rizze Relucio.
Eight minutes later, Shirley’s Alexandria Vergara returned the favor to even the score, 1-1.
Shirley’s then kept the pressure alive with several more attacks. Southern United tried to hold their ground but during a scuffle near their goal post, they scored in their own goal to hand Shirley’s the advantage, 2-1.
With neither team able to break through the entire second half of the game, Shirley’s claimed victory.
