TakeCare to sponsor NMIFA youth league
TakeCare, a TanHoldings company, and the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association announced today a five-year, $10,000 per year, sponsorship for the youth soccer league.
“TakeCare and the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association share similar goals to benefit the youth in the community,” said George Chiu, president/CEO, TakeCare. “Through this partnership, we hope to assist the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association to help youth develop and grow to become world class athletes and help them lead a Balanced Lifestyle that includes Being Active, Relaxing and Unwinding, Eating Right and being Socially Connected”
“We value and appreciate TakeCare’s sponsorship of our youth soccer league,” said Ross Zapanta, general secretary, Northern Mariana Islands Football Association. “We look forward to this partnership in helping the islands’ youth develop, grow and succeed as soccer players.”
NMIFA was established in August 2005 in the CNMI. Prior to the formation of NMIFA, “Association Football” did not exist in the CNMI and the sport was loosely played by about 100 youth and men. The football interest was apparent, but it lacked organization and exposure to the rest of the world. The NMIFA sought to build on that interest in hopes that football would grow exponentially in the CNMI.
Today, NMIFA continues to actively participate with East Asian Football Association EAFF and Asian Football Confederation AFC, and has sent representative national teams to several EAFF- and AFC-sanctioned competitions.
