WSR 2, GES to vie for soccer title

WILLIAM S. Reyes Elementary School 2 and Garapan Elementary School will face each other in the elementary school division championship game of the NMIFA-PSS Interscholastic Soccer League after eliminating their respective opponents in the semifinals Monday at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville.

To reach the finals, WSR 2 had to go head-to-head with their sibling team, WSR 1.

WSR 2 were simply unstoppable as each player on the field was a scoring threat. Three minutes into the game, Aldric Antonio broke the silence followed by three more goals delivered by team mates Joshua Lizama, Jiro Quindoza and Michael Olaitiman. Antonio then scored another goal for a 5-0 lead at the 10-minute mark.

WSR 1 tried to stop the bleeding with Landin Reyes scoring a goal, but WSR 2 resumed their onslaught with five more goals as Salman Kamal and Lizama contributed two goals each for a 10-1 spread by halftime.

WSR 1 tried to stay in the fight with better defense. At the 25th minute mark, WSR 1’s Zavier Camacho scored a goal, but WSR 2 responded with three more goals courtesy of Antonio, Kamal and Lizama to secure the win, 13-2.
