NMI holds Mongolia to 0-0 draw

THE NMI Women’s U15 National Team drew against Mongolia, 0-0, in the EAFF U15 Women's Championship 2024 at the Dalian Football Youth Training Centre in China on Sunday.

After losing 1-2 to Macau, the NMI used what they learned in that hard-fought game and applied it to their match against Mongolia.

The first 15 minutes saw both teams obtaining several shot opportunities. The NMI played aggressively, forcing the possession deep inside but so did Mongolia, which used their defense to create offensive attacks.

In the second half, both teams made substitutions in hopes that fresh legs would change the pace of the game, but neither was able to break and had to settle for a scoreless draw, 0-0.

“The team did well in their first match against Macau, improving in the second half despite little experience in 11v11 games. They continued to progress in their second game against Mongolia, creating scoring chances and following the team plan,” the NMI coaching staff said. “The team is improving with each game. The next match against Hong Kong will be tough, but they [the NMI players] are determined to keep learning and are working hard. Watching Group A matches has shown the team the gap between the NMI and top Asian teams like Japan and South Korea, providing valuable insights.”
