SIS bags 2nd win in boys middle school soccer

SAIPAN International School has taken the lead in the Boys Middle School Division of the NMIFA-PSS Interscholastic Soccer League after earning their second win by besting Hopwood Middle School, 5-1, at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Kobleville on Tuesday. SIS was quick on the trigger as they started the match with a handful of shot attempts. After just one minute of play, Leonard Delemarle drew first blood to put his team in control, 1-0. HOP tried to hold their ground, but SIS’ constant pressure eventually allowed Moshe Sikkel to score two consecutive goals for a 3-0 lead before halftime. The second half was no different as SIS continued its onslaught. This time, Theo Joab and Sean Park delivered the goals to further widen SIS’ lead. At the 49th minute mark, HOP’s Branson Santos stepped up with a solo goal before his team accepted defeat, 1-5.
MCS vs TMS Mount Carmel School joined the highlight reel after trouncing Tanapag Middle School, 7-0. MCS relied on teamwork with Elijah De Belen scoring at the 4th minute mark followed by two consecutive goals by team mates Jason Tagabuel. Julio Monserrat then delivered for a 4-0 spread. In the second half, Shakir Taher and Arstin Tagabuel took over with three goals while TMS remained silent for a flawless MCS win, 7-0.
In other matches In the Elementary School Division, Oleai Elementary School dominated Saipan Community School, 9-0, while San Vicente Elementary School routed Gregorio T. Camacho Middle School, 13-0. For their part, MCS 1 defeated MCS 2, 3-2; Garapan Elementary School beat SIS, 5-2; and Grace Christian Academy triumphed over William S. Reyes Elementary School, 5-1.
