Play Smart, Live Strong | Summer Camp | Lesson 18: Go Forward!

This week, our players learned that every challenge is an opportunity to grow.

Before training, we talked about having a growth mindset, believing that our skills, confidence, and character can all improve through practice, effort, and healthy choices. Mistakes aren’t the end of the story, they’re opportunities to learn and come back stronger!

On the field, players focused on transition to attack, learning to react quickly after winning the ball by looking up, finding open space, and creating scoring opportunities.

Off the field, we connected this lesson to making positive choices every day. We learned that choosing to stay away from alcohol and marijuana is a sign of a strong growth mindset!

Choosing healthy habits, staying substance-free, and taking care of your body are all things we can build for our success as an athlete and as a person.

The Play Smart, Live Strong initiative by the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association empowers our youth to make healthy choices on and off the field. Together with the Saipan Soccer School, we are using the power of soccer to promote substance-free lifestyles and reduce the risk factors related to underage drinking and marijuana use.

Every week we will share about our practical lessons, group discussion highlights, and soccer skills we learned to support our players as they Play Smart, Live Strong!
