Play Smart, Live Strong | After School Program | Lesson 20 Group Discussion Highlights

This week, our players explored how creativity can help us solve problems both on and off the field.

Together, we discussed:

  • Why having more than one option helps us make better choices
  • How changing direction can help us get around pressure
  • Creative ways to respond when someone offers alcohol or marijuana
  • Healthy alternatives we can choose instead
  • When to “pass the ball” to a trusted adult for help

Players also practiced different change of direction moves, including shoulder drops, step-overs, inside cuts, and drag-backs during our Skill of the Week training!

The Play Smart, Live Strong initiative by the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association empowers our youth to make healthy choices on and off the field. Together with the Saipan Soccer School, we are using the power of soccer to promote substance-free lifestyles and reduce the risk factors related to underage drinking and marijuana use.

Every week we will share about our practical lessons, group discussion highlights, and soccer skills we learned to support our players as they Play Smart, Live Strong!
