This week’s Play Smart, Live Strong lesson focused on Courage and how goalkeepers demonstrate it every time they step onto the field.
Players explored how goalkeeping takes courage, quick thinking, communication, and the confidence to make decisions under pressure. Through training, they practiced reading the play, staying focused on the ball, directing their teammates, and protecting their goal.
Off the field, courage means doing what is right even when it feels difficult. Whether it’s saying no to alcohol or marijuana, standing up to peer pressure, or asking a trusted adult for help, every healthy choice is an opportunity to show courage!

The Play Smart, Live Strong initiative by the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association empowers our youth to make healthy choices on and off the field. Together with the Saipan Soccer School, we are using the power of soccer to promote substance-free lifestyles and reduce the risk factors related to underage drinking and marijuana use.
Every week we will share about our practical lessons, group discussion highlights, and soccer skills we learned to support our players as they Play Smart, Live Strong!
