Play Smart, Live Strong | After School Program | Lesson 1: Know The Risks

This week, our After School Program students learned that their bodies and brains are their most important equipment! Before our training, we talked about how substances like alcohol and marijuana affect their reaction time, coordination, and stamina, making it harder to play their best.

During training, we focused on ball control. Because just like controlling the ball helps them succeed on the field, controlling their choices helps them succeed in life!

Together, we learned that strong players take care of themselves, because every decision impacts their performance!

The Play Smart, Live Strong initiative by the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association empowers our youth to make healthy choices on and off the field. Together with the Saipan Soccer School After School Program, we are using the power of soccer to promote substance-free lifestyles and reduce the risk factors related to underage drinking and marijuana use.

Every week we will share about our practical lessons, group discussion highlights, and soccer skills we learned to support our players as they Play Smart, Live Strong!
