Before training, we talked about planning ahead and how successful teams create a game plan before the whistle blows. They think about possible challenges, prepare their responses, and make sure everyone knows what to do when the pressure comes.
When young people think ahead about situations where they might face peer pressure or unhealthy choices, they can prepare what they will say, who they can call, and how they can safely leave.
On the field, players put the lesson into action by working together to create and follow a game plan, communicating with teammates and making decisions with purpose.

The Play Smart, Live Strong initiative by the Northern Mariana Islands Football Association empowers our youth to make healthy choices on and off the field. Together with the Saipan Soccer School, we are using the power of soccer to promote substance-free lifestyles and reduce the risk factors related to underage drinking and marijuana use.
Every week we will share about our practical lessons, group discussion highlights, and soccer skills we learned to support our players as they Play Smart, Live Strong!
